Chickencam's Chocolate Orange Cake

  • 112g self raising flour
  • 12.5g cocoa powder
  • 1 level teaspoon baking powder
  • 100g soft margarine
  • 75g caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 50g plain chocolate grated - the grating took a while it would have been easier with thick chocolate.

grated rind and juice of one orange

  • Heat oven to 325 F 160 C gas mark 3
  • Grease and line a 7 inch round tin
  • Beat all ingredients together for about 2 minutes until thoroughly blended
  • Turn into tin and bake until cake is well risen and has shrunk from the sides of the tin, about 45 minutes.
  • Cool on wire rack.
