[edit] Introduction

Hexamitiasis is a very infectious disease of turkeys, quail, ducks, partridges and pigeons. Chickens apparently are not affected by this disease.

[edit] Symptoms

Main symptoms are listlessness and foamy or watery diarrhea with rapid weight loss due to dehydration. Birds often huddle together near the heat source and cry or "chirp" constantly as though they are in pain. Convulsions due to lowered blood sugar levels shortlycome before death. Affected birds suffer losses in weight and survivors remain small.
