[edit] Introduction

This disease usually attacks young chickens. It is not normally a wide spread disease so should not affect the whole flock. It arrives usually by the introduction of an infected bird into a flock. Transmission of the infection occurs through direct contact direct contact,Susceptible birds usually develop symptoms within three days after being exposed to the disease. Birds that have recovered may appear normal but remain carriers for a long period. Once a flock is infected, all birds must be considered as potential carriers and be treated

The chicken will have a swelling of the face around the eyes and wattles, nasal discharge and swollen sinuses. Watery eyes that can cause the lids to close.

Keeping the chickens pens clean, only introduce started or adult birds from sources known to be free of this infection. Medicine can be given to control effects.
