[edit] Introduction

An acute or chronic disease seen in chickens, turkeys and ducks, it usually affects the mid and small intestine of the chicken.The death rate in a flock can be up to half of the flock. Infection spreads by faecal-oral transmission. Spores of the organism are highly resistant. A high protein diet can be contributory.

A chicken will have very dark coloured diarrhoea, closed eys, sudden death in a healthy bird, ruffled feathers.

The addition of Penicillin in the drinking water for a few days will help illuminate the disease
